Apollo Health Ventures (www.apollo.vc) is a biotech venture capital firm with offices in Berlin and Boston, that features venture creation as a cornerstone of its investment approach. Apollo is unique among investment firms due to its focus on a specific field of scientific discoveries – the Biology of Aging. Together with leading scientists who are investigating the molecular and cellular processes of aging, Apollo conceptualizes and builds innovative companies.
During your internship, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into biotech venture creation in a stimulating entrepreneurial environment. In your role you will support the venture creation team at Apollo, working on novel technologies that have the potential to result in the development of medicines that may revolutionize healthcare. Based on your qualifications and interest, you support in tasks like analysis and concept development to execution - both from a scientific and/or business perspective.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Work side by side with some of the top investors and scientists worldwide, focused on aging
• Acquire the skills needed to start companies and turn a concept into a therapeutic
• Build a network at the interface of aging science and venture with Apollo as a global leader
• Independently pursue and promote scientific cutting-edge concepts at Apollo
  
  

Your responsibilities:

• Discover and evaluate ground-breaking science as a basis for venture creation
• Generate new investment ideas for Apollo e.g., by monitoring scientific progress
• Perform market research on the biotech and investment market
• Support entire deal making process for potential portfolio companies
• Assess the regulatory and IP landscape for a scientific area of interest
• Develop preclinical and clinical strategy to be pursued by new ventures
• Build research plan and budget for the new ventures
• Work on operational and strategic issues for portfolio companies

Desired Skills and Experience

• Science background (Master/PhD) and passion for biotechnology and biomedicine
• Preferably with prior expertise and strong interest in the biology of aging
• Qualification in business, e.g. classes, extra-curricular activities and/or internships, is a plus
• Highly entrepreneurial mindset and creative thinking
• Self-directed working style to succeed in a dynamic fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated excellence in scientific research and data analysis
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• An appetite for stepping outside your comfort zone and tackle challenging projects

Timeline & Application:

• Startdate: From May 1st, 2023 onwards with a minimum 6-month duration
• Time commitment: Minimum of 20hrs/week
• Location: Berlin or home office-based with remote participation in meetings
